Update on National Call Up: Safuwan Baharudin


Selangor FC's key player, Safuwan Baharudin was given an early release to participate in the training session of the Singapore FA team in preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2021 which will take place this December.

Safuwan travelled to his home country last night and will undergo a seven-day quarantine before he reports to the Singapore FA team.

Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon, Chief Executive Officer of Selangor FC explained on the situation,

“Safuwan is a pillar player of Selangor FC and also Singapore FA. It's a bit hard for the club, yet this is inevitable as the club has to respect the FIFA calendar that has been set. We also want to support Safuwan's responsibility to serve his country. "

"However, Safuwan will not be able to be with his teammates in the quarterfinals. He will return to the Selangor FC camp for the next stage of TM Malaysia Cup 2021 if the team qualifies for the next round," he said.

Dr Johan also stated that with the club management and the coaches also have full confidence in the players available to lead the team.

Tomorrow, the Red Giants team will play against The Bos Gaurus at the Perak Stadium, Ipoh Perak for the final match of Group B TM Malaysia Cup 2021 with the possibility of adding extra points despite having qualified for the quarterfinals which will take place next week.
